An unofficial Label Bleu discography

Introduction

Label Bleu is the distinctive French jazz label which started life in 1986 to make recordings produced by the Maison de la Culture d'Amiens and which has since released around 120 recordings. Many of the core artists are French (eg. Henri Texier, Daniel Humair, Michel Portal, Louis Sclavis) but the label has recorded many other Europeans (eg. Enrico Rava, Joachin Kuhn) and visiting Americans (eg. George Russell, Joe Lovano, Lee Konitz and Dave Liebman). A separate label 'Indigo' was established in 1994 which documents 'world music' which I have not listed here.

I own around 30 titles and compiled this discography originally as Label Bleu had no website [it can now be found at www.label-bleu.com] and was curious to see what else the label had issued. The list is very much a work in progress - there are some titles that I haven't tracked down yet and much of the data comes from third party sources so I can make no claims for its accuracy. If you can complete any of the missing data or have any corrections I would be grateful if you could email me with details.

'Unofficial' means that I have no connection or contact with the label or its artists - I can't even speak French! The latest CD's show the contact details as 'Label Bleu, BP 0631 - 80006 Amiens Cedex 1 - France, Tel: 33 (0)3 22 97 79 83, Fax: 33 (0)3 22 92 52 17 Email: contact@label-bleu.fr'

Special thanks to Gary Carey Whitehead and Dan Kurdilla for their assistance in compiling this list.
